ISLAMABAD: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has that provinces should have been taken into confidence about the federal government holding  negotiations with the outlawed Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan.

The chief minister statement come after Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed said that the government was holding talks with the protesters after successfully negotiating the release of policemen held hostage by the banned religious party.

“I came to know that the interior minister had issued a statement about holding negotiations when I woke up for sehri,” he said while talking to the media in Islamabad, adding that the provinces were not taken into confidence.” He said they found out about the operation to clear the protesters at the minute.

While commenting on the countrywide shutterdown strike, he said no one will be stopped from holding peaceful demonstrations. However, he warned that a law and order situation must be created.

“There can never be any compromise on how we feel about the Holy Prophet (PBUH). People must, however, ensure that they aren’t causing inconvenience to others,” he said.

On the other hand, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar termed the law and order situation of the province satisfactory and under control.

In his statement, Buzdar said that police, Rangers and all other law enforcement agencies are performing their duties effectively. The law and order situation in Punjab is satisfactory except for one place in Lahore where some miscreants have blocked the road.

Buzdar appealed to the public not to pay heed to reports on social media and added that responsible government sources were keeping the people informed about the overall law and order situation in the province.

He assured the people of Punjab that protection of life and property of the citizens and rule of law are among the duties of the government and is being carried out effectively.
