Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former prime minister, has instructed party officials to remove Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Sher Afzal Marwat from the party.
The leadership of PTI has resolved to terminate Marwat’s basic membership following grievances from senior members regarding his behavior at a recent rally in Swabi.
Khan has reportedly directed prominent party members to initiate the process for Marwat’s expulsion, with a formal notification anticipated shortly. Furthermore, the party intends to request his resignation from the National Assembly.
This decision arises from internal discontent concerning Marwat’s conduct during the Swabi event, which led to several complaints being submitted to Khan by party affiliates.
An official announcement regarding the expulsion is expected from PTI in the near future.
Last month, PTI had issued a show cause notice to Sher Afzal Marwat for breaching party discipline.
In the notice, the PTI leadership admonished Marwat, recognized for his passionate speeches, for making remarks that contradicted the party’s official stance.
Moreover, Marwat was barred from representing the party in media engagements until he provided a response to the show-cause notice, which was issued by PTI’s Additional Secretary General, Firdous Shamim Naqvi.
