Renowned surgeon and founder of the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT), Prof. Dr. Adib Rizvi, has been awarded the esteemed British Medical Journal (BMJ) Award in recognition of his exceptional services and contributions to medical science in the South Asian region.
The award was presented during a formal ceremony held in New Delhi and was accepted on Dr. Rizvi’s behalf by Dr. Sanjay Nagra, Co-Chair of the BMJ Advisory Board.
In his remarks, Dr. Nagra lauded Dr. Rizvi’s pioneering efforts in establishing a healthcare model in Pakistan that provides free, accessible, and equitable treatment to all, describing it as an exemplary framework for developing countries.
Joining the ceremony virtually via Zoom, Dr. Rizvi expressed deep gratitude for the honor and acknowledged BMJ’s pivotal role in advancing medical education and research.
He emphasized the need for regional collaboration, urging nations to rise above political divisions in order to uplift marginalized communities and improve public health outcomes across South Asia.
