ISLAMABAD: Private Cooperative Housing Society Top City has illegally seized and sold about four hundred and fifty canals of land in Bijnawal, formerly the National Cooperative Housing Society in Islamabad.
According to sources, a man named Malik Riaz, employed in the Pakistan Cooperative Housing Society made a contract to grant 1650 acres of land to the Afghan President’s Society in 2003, despite the land was legally owned by the National Cooperative Housing Society.
Sources said after the agreement, Malik Riaz received Rs seven crore advance amount and transferred the land to the society. Due to the negligence of the National Society Administration, the members of the society lost Rs. 250 million.
After 12-years, rapid development works at New Islamabad Airport and increasing demand for land in the Society the rates of land also multiplied.
Sources further said after increasing demand of the land the top city administration took full advantage of Malik Riaz and President National Society Sardar Amjad and won the case by using illegal tactics.
Joint Registrar Co-operative Chaudhry Nisar also performed the duties as the facilitator for the encroachers, sources added.
According to the acquired documents, the top city occupies most of the society’s land. Earlier, the society had filled appealed against the land mafia.
Sources said there is a strong possibility of poor follow-up in the case President Sardar Amjad will be able to cheat billions of rupees with thousands of members of the National Cooperative Housing Society.
The Society member says, “We will not allow encroaching the land to any person and they will fight for their rights in the courts.”
