ISLAMABAD: Private companies have appointed security guards without police verification in different areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Sources revealed that security firms are hiring guards without the necessary background checks or verifying their criminal records. Many of these security guards are wanted in different cases in various cities and different provinces by police.
Sources further disclosed, “These security guards abscond to other cities after being involved in different criminal cases and find employment as security guards and receive a salary of Rs10-14,000”.
There are several security firms operating in the twin cities providing their services to offices, residences, housing societies, plazas, markets and bazaars, sources said. Many of the security companies operating in Islamabad have been blacklist by the Ministry of Interior but continue to operate illegally.
Sources said due to the criminal negligence of authorities to check such activities, the robbers are looting people freely in the Federal Capital during the daytime. The safest city has become a crime center. Armed robbers have killed two people in an attempt to loot a truck in Shams Colony at IJP road in Islamabad on Wednesday.
Sources said two armed robbers riding a motorcycle tried to loot a truck on IJP Road in Shams Colony police station. When the driver did not stop the truck, the robbers indiscriminately opened fire.
As a result, two people, including the truck driver sustained severe bullet injuries and died on the spot. On the other hand, the policemen on patrol chased the motorcyclists but the accused fled after leaving the motorcycle behind.
However, police failed to apprehend the culprits, sources added. The motorcycle was seized by the police. The investigation was being carried out using modern technology and geo-fencing.
