The 53rd martyrdom anniversary of Lance Naik Sawar Muhammad Hussain is being observed on Tuesday, with President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and the nation honoring him as a symbol of sacrifice and courage.
Sawar Muhammad Hussain, the first soldier to receive the Nishan-e-Haider, Pakistan’s highest military honor, has been remembered for his supreme sacrifice during the 1971 war. The Pakistan Army paid a heartfelt tribute to him for his valor and sacrifice.
Born on January 18, 1949, in Dhok Pir Bakhsh, District Attock, Sawar Hussain joined the 20 Lancers of the Armoured Corps in September 1966 at the age of 17. After his martyrdom, his village was renamed Dhok Muhammad Hussain Janjua in his honor.
In his message, President Asif Ali Zardari said that Sawar Muhammad Hussain Shaheed set an unparalleled example of bravery by sacrificing his life for the beloved homeland.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that Sawar Muhammad Hussain Shaheed Nishan-e-Haider demonstrated extraordinary courage and valor during the 1971 war. He played a pivotal role in destroying 16 enemy tanks using anti-tank guns while identifying enemy positions.
He added that Muhammad Hussain Shaheed Nishan-e-Haider set a remarkable example of bravery and selflessness by laying down his life for the country. His unwavering commitment to defending the nation and his ultimate sacrifice will serve as an inspiring example for generations to come.
Shehbaz Sharif further said that he, along with the entire nation, takes immense pride in its martyrs and their families. The Pakistani nation will never forget the sacrifices of its great martyrs who gave their lives for the survival of the homeland.
According to a report by GNN, on the occasion of the 53rd death anniversary of Nishan-e-Haider Sepoy Sawar Muhammad Hussain Shaheed, the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), Services Chiefs, and the Armed Forces paid tribute to his eternal sacrifice.
The Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) stated that Sawar Muhammad Hussain displayed unparalleled courage in the 1971 war and played a role in destroying 16 enemy tanks. Sawar Muhammad Hussain was martyred by an enemy machine gun bullet while performing his duty.
The ISPR said that the nation pays tribute to the brave sons who sacrificed their lives for the survival of their beloved homeland.
