A power outage at the Gharo Pumping Station and filtration plant has disrupted water supply to several areas of Karachi, it was reported on Saturday.
According to a Water Corporation spokesperson, due to a cable fault in the K-Electric supply line around 3 PM on Friday, the water pumping has been completely halted. The fault has not yet been fixed.
Due to the disruption, the water supply has been affected in areas such as Port Qasim, Bin Qasim Town, Shah Faisal Town, PNS Mehran, PAF Base Faisal, and Karsaz.
The spokesperson added that Water Corporation officials are in continuous contact with K-Electric management to resolve the fault as soon as possible.
The Gharo station supplies around 30 million gallons of water daily to the city, and the interruption has completely halted this supply.
It should be noted that Karachi is also facing a water shortage, as people in most parts of the city are compelled to buy costly tanker water for everyday use.
