Following heavy bombings on Iran’s oil facilities, concerns have emerged about polluted particles potentially reaching Pakistan. The Pakistan Meteorological Department has said that western winds could carry pollution into the country’s western regions, though there is no risk of black rain.
According to the Meteorological Department, polluted particles carried by winds coming from the west could reach the western regions of Pakistan. These winds may affect the air quality in the country’s western areas.
The Meteorological Department has ruled out the possibility of black rain in Pakistan. However, considering that the system arriving from Iran contains pollution-causing particles, regional offices have been instructed to collect rain samples for testing.
Officials said the western wind system is expected to enter Pakistan via Iran in the coming days. It may carry pollution-causing particles, but there is no likelihood of black rain.
It is worth noting that during the ongoing attacks on Iran, Israel and the United States conducted heavy bombings on Iranian oil facilities, causing severe pollution in Tehran. Dark clouds appeared in the sky, and rain mixed with oil particles fell.
Following this situation in Tehran, concerns have risen about its meteorological impact on neighboring countries, especially Pakistan, due to their shared border.
Authorities have instructed regional offices to collect rain samples as a precaution, while today’s forecast also predicts rainfall and hail in several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and northern Punjab.
