A police constable was martyred, one attacker was killed, and another was injured in a deadly clash that followed a grenade attack targeting Punjabis in Gwadar, according to a private TV channel report on Sunday.
As per the report, the police stated that the incident occurred near Bilal Mosque, where unknown assailants lobbed a hand grenade at a house, injuring three individuals from Punjab.
As the attackers attempted to flee, a gun battle broke out with police. During the exchange of fire, Constable Muhammad Khumari was martyred in the line of duty.
One of the attackers, identified as Shahjahan, son of Dilmurad, was killed on the spot, while the injured assailant was recognized as Shehzad, son of Waheed.
Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind confirmed the attack and praised the swift action of the police.
The police spokesperson stated that the attackers were confronted promptly as they tried to escape after the grenade attack.
He said the police’s response averted a larger tragedy, though it came at the heavy cost of losing a brave officer.
