A post-mortem report has revealed that the death of a 10-year-old girl, who was found inside the washroom of a private tuition center in Lahore’s Ichhra area, was caused by hanging, however, police said the investigation is still open to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to the initial autopsy, doctors found a clear ligature mark on the girl’s neck but detected no signs of torture or sexual assault.
Police said the washroom door was not locked when the incident came to light. Fingerprints and other evidence collected from the scene have been sent for forensic analysis.
The girl’s body was handed over to her family after the post-mortem. Police have also taken the owner of the property into custody as part of the ongoing investigation.
The case was registered as a murder on the complaint of the victim’s father, Muhammad Adnan. The girl had gone to attend classes at the tuition centre, where she had been studying for around 18 months, before she was found unconscious in the washroom. She was rushed to a hospital by local residents but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The victim’s father questioned the circumstances of her death, insisting there were no marks on her neck when she left home and demanding justice. Police said all possibilities remain under investigation and no conclusions will be drawn until forensic findings are received.
