FAISALABAD: Faisalabad police on Monday claimed to have apprehended the stepfather of a five-year-old on charges of raping and murdering a five-year-old daughter.
According to police, the girl was found murdered in the city a couple of days ago, with a subsequent postmortem report stating she was subjected to sexual violence before the murder. The report had said the girl was choked to death. Cuts from a sharp object were also found on her body, as per the report.
Police said they took the victim’s stepfather into custody for his involvement and during the course of the interrogation, the suspect revealed he had raped and murdered the child.
On March 14, Police had apprehended a suspect for murdering and raping a 10-year-old boy in Faisalabad. According to sources, the victim went missing, following which his family registered a case of kidnapping in the Mamukanjan area.
Sources further said police took into custody a suspect who lived in the same areas, on suspicion of being involved in the kidnapping. During the interrogation, the suspect confessed to raping and murdering the boy, said the police source.
The suspect allegedly told police he took the victim to a haveli where he raped him and later killed him to keep his crime a secret. After murdering the victim, the accused allegedly dumped his body in Saim Nullah, where Rescue 112 is currently searching for the body.
Singer and activist Shehzad Roy reacted to the incident, tweeting his disappointment over the incident. He said, “Man arrested for alleged rape and murder of an 11-year old boy in Faisalabad.
“Before punishing this man we need to get mental health professionals on board to understand this behavior. We might save children by this intervention,” Roy tweeted.
