The deadline to apply for the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme (PMLS) Phase-IV is fast approaching, with May 20 set as the final date for submissions. Thousands of students have already taken advantage of the opportunity, with the scheme’s official portal experiencing a surge in applications in recent days.
This flagship initiative by the government aims to distribute 100,000 laptops to high-achieving students enrolled in public sector universities across Pakistan. The scheme is designed to promote education, bridge the digital divide, and equip students with essential tools for academic and professional growth.
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible, applicants must be currently enrolled in a recognized public sector university and pursuing PhD, MS/MPhil, Master’s, or Bachelor’s programs. Students must meet the academic criteria of a minimum 2.80 CGPA or 60% marks. First-year undergraduate students must submit their Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) marks, while first-semester MS/PhD students are required to provide their previous degree results.
The scheme also includes a quota system to ensure equitable access:
-
18% reserved for students from Balochistan
-
5% for distance learning students, split equally between Virtual University and Allama Iqbal Open University
Graduated students are not eligible, even if they were enrolled at the time of application.
How to Apply?
Students can apply through the Prime Minister’s Digital Youth Hub (DYH) App or visit the official website: www.pmyp.gov.pk. The platform is fully operational, and applicants are encouraged to submit their forms well before the deadline.
After applications close, a provisional merit list will be published, followed by a 15-day window for students to raise objections or submit grievances. Once all concerns are addressed, the final merit list will be released.
The laptop distribution will be strictly merit-based within each department and program to ensure transparency and fairness.
The Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme continues to serve as a critical investment in Pakistan’s future by fostering digital literacy, innovation, and educational empowerment. With just days left, eligible students are urged to apply now and seize this opportunity.
