ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Q has refused to support the Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) candidates for Senate chairman and deputy chairman elections.
The PPP delegation comprised of Bilawal Bhutto, Qamar Zaman Kaira and Jameel Soomro held a meeting with PML-Q leadership to get support for the PDM in the Senate chairman and deputy chairman elections on Sunday.
During the meeting, the Chaudhry brothers refused to vote for the PDM candidate in the upcoming Senate chairman election.
Chaudhry brothers said, “PML-Q is an ally of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and will vote government-backed candidate Sadiq Sanjrani for Senate chairman slot.”
The PML-Q chief made it clear to Bilawal that it was not their policy to make a promise to anyone that was against their principles, adding that late prime minister Benazir Bhutto s son has come to our house for the first time and this will further strengthen the mutual relationship of respect.
He said that the PML-Q are the coalition partners of the government and the party has already assured the ruling PTI of its support for the forthcoming Senate chairman election.
The PPP chairman today reached the residence of the Chaudhry brothers and met with Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujat Hussain. Bilawal Bhutto also inquired about the health of the ailing PML-Q chief.
PML-Q’s Tariq Bashir Cheema, Moonis Elahi, Salik Hussian and Hussain Elahi were also present during the meeting.
