LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Punjab President Rana Sanaullah on Friday said the party has launched its election activities and would field candidates in all constituencies of the province.
Addressing a press conference at the party secretariat, the PML-N leader affirmed that no alliances will be formed with other parties for the elections. However, he said seat adjustments could be made in a few constituencies under unavoidable circumstances.
He said the PML-N has developed a strong organizational set-up at division, district and union council levels in Punjab. He mentioned the party meeting was called to discuss the participation in the upcoming general elections and fielding of candidates in all Punjab and National Assembly constituencies.
He announced that the PML-N intends to nominate its candidates from all 297 provincial and 146 National Assembly constituencies across the country. Sanaullah noted that the party had not nominated candidates in certain districts in previous elections but has now taken on the challenge.
He said the PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif stabilized Pakistan and steered it out of crises. He recalled that the PML-N government had overcome many challenges, including terrorism and power outages just in four years.
He said If the “October 12, 1999 adventure” [Musharraf martial law] had not been happened, Pakistan would have been a developed country today. “Pakistan was going to become an Asian tiger, but it was pushed into crises under a conspiracy with the ousting of Nawaz Sharif and his party from power,” he added.
After 2017, he said, a “project” was launched to divide the country politically again like 1999, which stopped development process and brought Pakistan to the brink of default.
However, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ‘s government, under the guidance of Nawaz Sharif, brought the country again out of crises in a short time span of one year, the minister added.
He hoped that there would be no conspiracy against the PML-N in the next elections and the country would continue its journey of development under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif. The PML-N did not believe in the politics of ‘revenge and hatred’, he added.
Rana Sanaullah said that the PML-N would not compromise on its electable candidates, asserting that in 2018, the party contested elections despite many candidates returning tickets.
He said the PML-N parliamentary party would decide about the prime ministerial or chief ministerial candidate with the consultation of Nawaz Sharif.
He said political dialogue continued for a whole year but one party had refused to engage in the talks. He added the PML-N, after coming to power again, would steer the country out of all crises and take action against those who rigged the 2018 elections.
