LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Javed Latif has claimed that Nawaz Sharif will be returning back to Pakistan this year and will become prime minister for the fourth time.
The PML-N MNA was talking to media after visiting the Joint Investigation Team of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for a graft inquiry.
“Nawaz Sharif cannot stay abroad after seeing Pakistanis stuck in this crisis. He is coming here to lead the nation himself. Even if treatment is not complete, he is coming back for the treatment being meted out to the nation,” he said.
“Those who had brought him the third time will allow Nawaz Sharif to be elected prime minister for the fourth time,” Javed Latif said. “Those who had expelled him from government knowing that only he can guide the country out of the dire straits”
Regarding his two-hour long visit to the NAB office, Latif said that his family has been in business since 1950 and the Mian Flour Mills was being run by his family even before his election as a member of the district council.
He said during earlier investigation NAB had asked him about alleged misuse of authority to build his assets. He maintained he has not committed any wrongdoing and was facing this inquiry for the last three years.
Latif said he knew NAB would serve him a notice due to his recent speeches in the National Assembly and remarks on the restrictions being imposed through the Pakistan Media Development Authority (PMDA) bill.
Latif said the PML-N had “no objection” if PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari came to power after being elected through public vote.
“An impression has been created that the People’s Party being brought (to power). We won’t object if Bilawal comes into power by popular vote,” Latif said.
