ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has welcomed Facebook’s investment in Pakistan.
Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook chief operating officer, called on the prime minister via video link during which PM Imran Khan said that there are more opportunities for digital platforms like Facebook in the country.
During the meeting, both discussed Facebook’s investment in Pakistan. They also discussed Facebook’s cooperation in digital literacy and the prevention of the coronavirus.
PM Imran Khan expressed concern over the spread of hate speech online. The prime minister also expressed concern over the growing online hatred and extremism, saying that stopping hate speech online was a big challenge.

Welcoming Facebook’s investment and various programs in Pakistan, the prime minister said that such platforms would help the youth in eradicating poverty.
The prime minister also appreciated the cooperation of Facebook in making Pakistan polio-free.
Sheryl Sandberg said that more than 5 million Pakistanis signed up for Facebook’s blood donation campaign. He said that full support of Facebook is included in the fulfillment of the government’s goal of a polio-free Pakistan.
