ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday took a notice of the social media propaganda against the Supreme Court Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmad and higher judiciary.
According to a notification issued by Prime Minister Office, the PM Imran Khan directed the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Director General to investigate the matter and take severe action against the culprits.
“Campaigns and offensive words against the chief justice and the judiciary will not be tolerated such elements should be given immediate and strict punishment.” the statement read.
On different social media websites some people are criticising the Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmad for taking suo moto notice over inadequate facilities at hospitals to handle the COVID-19 epidemic.
Earlier, in a suo-moto case Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed had expressed his displeasure over the performance of the federal government in handling the coronavirus pandemic.
During the hearing, the CJP had lashed out at the federal government and remarked, “There is an army of special assistants having authority the same as federal ministers.”
CJP also had remarked that five-question were asked from the government team but the team was unable to satisfy the court with even a single answer.
The CJP further remarked “That there is a lack of consensus when it comes to dealing with the virus to which the Attorney General replied, “It is happening because of the 18th amendment.”
During the hearing, the chief justice had questioned the credentials of the Special Assistant to Prime Minister for Health Dr Zafar Mirza and ordered the removal of the special assistant.
