ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has slashed fuel prices after a downward trend in the international market following the US-Iran ceasefire.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a reduction of Rs135 per litre in diesel prices and Rs12 per litre in petrol prices.
Addressing the nation, the prime minister said, “I announce a reduction of Rs135 in diesel prices and Rs12 per litre in petrol prices.”
He added that he was speaking on a historic occasion, noting that instead of conflict in the Gulf, progress towards peace is being made, as both sides have agreed to engage in dialogue.
The prime minister thanked the leadership of Iran and the United States for accepting his proposal, stating that leaders from both countries will visit Islamabad. He said hosting them is not only an honour for Pakistan but for the entire Muslim world.
He further stated that both sides had been persuaded to agree to a temporary ceasefire and were invited to Islamabad for talks.
He congratulated the foreign minister and his team, and especially commended Field Marshal Asim Munir for his role in the efforts.
