PM launches Ehsaas Saylani Langar Scheme in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has launched Ehsas Saylani Langar Scheme in Islamabad today to provide free food to needy people.
Speaking on the occasion, the prime minister said that the Ehsas Saylani Langar Scheme was aimed at the elimination of poverty to develop the country as New Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion, the prime minister said the government’s steps are aimed at uplifting the lower strata of the society ultimately leading the country to a welfare state.

Appreciating the langar scheme under Ehsaas programme, he said the government will continue introducing such steps every month to improve the living standard of the poor until people are fully employed.

Imran Khan said efforts are underway to build the country on the pattern of the State of Madina where people would have equal rights. He said the current government is taking measures to narrow the gap between the rich and the poor to develop social harmony in the country.

The prime minister said the government is committed to spend the tax money on welfare of the poor.

Speaking on the occasion, Special Assistant for Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation Sania Nishtar said one hundred and twelve Ehsaas Saylani Langars will be opened in different parts of the country.

She said people will be provided quality food at these Langars with dignity, adding that the prime minister has directed to ensure provision of food to every needy in the country.

The opening of the first Langar began in Islamabad which would be later expanded in the whole nation.  This joint initiative will later be extended to the entire country, particularly in Karachi, Hyderabad, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Quetta, and Peshawar.
The whole set up of the Ehsaas Langar Scheme has been established jointly by Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Division and Saylani Welfare International Trust within a period of less than a month as prime minister had directed Ehsaas to launch this initiative without any delay.
