ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will leave for Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) on a day-long visit today (Friday) where he will inaugurate a number of development projects.
The development package includes clean energy, health, infrastructure, water supply, transport, communication, sanitations and tourism sector schemes for the region.
With 3G and 4G internet facilities included in the package, construction of new grid stations, launch of Clean Energy, Hydropower and Health Card programs is included in the Rs275 billion for the region.
PM Imran will inaugurate Khunjerab-Rawalpindi Phase One Optical Fiber Cable Project during his visit to Gilgit-Baltistan. He will also inaugurate Fiber to the Home project for 39 cities of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir
Prime Minister Imran Khan will also announce province-wide rollout of three major Ehsaas programmes in Gilgit-Baltistan. He will also inaugurate an Incubation Center in GB.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate the Concordia BTS in memory of Ali Sadpara at the K2 Base Camp. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of a software technology park in Hunza.
On March 30, fulfilling the promise made before elections in November last year, Prime Minister Imran Khan had approved a “historic” development package for the uplift of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).
According to details, the premier gave go-ahead while chairing a meeting on Gilgit-Baltistan Integrated Development Plan, which is being dubbed as historic.

Addressing the meeting, the prime minister said, “Gilgit Baltistan has a lot of tourism potential and it should be utilized. The development of GB is one of the top priorities of the government,” he added.
The premier also directed Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan to pay special attention to the environmental protection and promotion of tourism.
