ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has hailed the decision made by the Sri Lankan counterpart, permitting their Muslim population to bury those who died of the novel coronavirus.
Prime Minister Imran Khan took to Twitter admired Sri Lankan PM Mahinda Rajapaksa for announcing earlier today (Wednesday) in their parliament that Muslims shall be allowed to bury their dead instead of cremating them.
“We welcome Sri Lankan PM Mahinda Rajapaksa’s assurance given in Sri Lankan Parliament today allowing Muslims to bury those who died from COVID19,” PM Imran tweeted.

Sri Lanka authorities had restricted its population to incinerate all those who die out of the COVID-19 so the viral spread in the midst of the pandemic can be reduced.
However, this caused uproar globally across Muslim communities and people protested as this decree hurt their religious sentiments and forced them into violating religious customs and final rites. The number of coronavirus cases worldwide has reached 107.42 million and 2,350,919 people have lost their lives.
More than 79.38 million coronavirus patients have been cured in the world and more than 25.595 million are undergoing treatment. The Coronavirus situation is the worst in the United States, with 479,772 deaths and more than 277.99 million people affected.
India ranks second in the world in terms of coronavirus cases, with 155,280 deaths and more than 18.58 million people diagnosed with the virus. The total number of deaths from coronavirus in Brazil is 233,588 and more than 9.6 million people are affected.
