MURREE: Prime Minister Imran Khan has inaugurated the Kohsar University in Murree and stressed promoting education for the growth and progress of the country.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of Kohsar University in Murree on Friday, the prime minister said that education is the only mode to change a country’s fate, adding that the people expect their governments to invest in health and education.
He further said, “It is the responsibility of the government to cater to the needs of the people, take care of their health, and give them access to education.”
“An illiterate, poor person works hard by performing manual labour but does not receive enough compensation for that,” the PM said. “If you give some technical education to the same person or educate them some expertise, they can earn much more,” he added.
“These days, there are many information and technology (IT) related courses which students can undertake for six months after finishing their matric Prime Minister Imran Khan said. In this way, he said, students can earn a living more easily.
Shedding light on the condition of Murree, which is a popular tourist destination in Pakistan, the premier said that over the years, the population of Murree has increased, however, there are no hospitals there to cater to the needs of the masses except for a small hospital in Nathia Gali.
Prime Minister Imran said that the presence of Kohsar University will also give a boost to tourism in Murree, adding that Pakistan is gradually moving towards development as all areas are improving across different levels.
“Our tourism industry is mounting fast, and social media has played a vital role in that. Tourism is the future of Pakistan. We can pay all our debts with tourism alone,” the prime minister added.
Pakistan can earn far more from tourism as compared to exports, the prime minister observed. Since so many people visit Murree every year, the premier said, adding the city gets overcrowded, so much so that people don’t even find the space to walk.
“In view of the situation in Murree, we need to open more touristic spots in the country,” he said, adding that tourism will not only boost the economy but it will also generate employment for the local people and they wouldn’t be compelled to move to cities to look for work.
Prime Minister Imran Khan said that when the state does something to help the poor and the needy, Allah bestows that state with more resources.
“All countries which prioritize the needs of the masses are prospering,” he said. “Even non-Muslim nations progressed by adopting the golden principles of Riyasat-e-Madina.”
Citing a report of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), he said that poverty is fast being reduced from KP due to the provision of employment opportunities to the people.
