PM Imran committed to bringing reforms in electoral process: Shibli Faraz

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information Senator Shibli Faraz has said Prime Minister Imran Khan is committed to bringing reforms in the electoral process to ensure transparency in the decades-old corrupt political system of the country.

In a series of tweets the minister on Sunday the minister said the whole nation knew well who stood on which side of history on the important issue of transparency in the electoral system.

The opposition was a supporter of the system based on rigging and a hurdle in the way of transparency while Imran Khan stood firm with his unwavering commitment to transparency in the electoral process, he added.

Shibli Faraz further said the opponents of open ballots wanted the continuation of a corrupt system in the country. PTI, he continued, was the party that has led the struggle of transparency in the system and eradication of corruption into a movement.

Shibli Faraz said Prime Minister Imran Khan would never step back from his struggle to achieve this objective.

Earlier, lashing out at the opposition, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz had said that by opposing open ballot in Senate polls, the opposition parties have clarified that they do not want to end the use of money in politics.

Taking to social networking website, Twitter, Shibli Faraz had said that the opposition’s vociferous on the measures to ensure transparency in the Senate polls was beyond comprehension. He maintained. “Transparency in elections is the strength of democracy.”
