ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan today (Friday) has expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made for repatriating stranded Pakistanis from abroad.
The satisfaction came while talking to his Special Assistant on National Security Moeed Yusuf, who called on him in Islamabad. On the occasion, the premier assured that the government will fulfill its responsibility towards the overseas Pakistanis.
During the meeting, PM’s aide on National Security briefed the prime minister on repatriation operation. He said, “Over 225,000 stranded Pakistanis have so far been brought back home from 70 countries.”
Moeed Yusuf further said that promise made by the premier to bring back the stranded Pakistanis from abroad in these difficult times has been fulfilled.
Earlier on June 29, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi had said that 100,000 Pakistanis stranded abroad during the COVID-19 pandemic have been repatriated so far.
In a statement, Shah Mahmood Qureshi had said that overseas Pakistanis had stood with the nation in testing times. “We are trying to safeguard the employment of those returning to Pakistan,” he added.
The government had also announced a new policy on July 18 to bring back Pakistanis stranded overseas which aims to bring back approximately 200,000 people within one month.
