Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will operate its first direct flight to the United Kingdom in five years on October 25, departing from Islamabad International Airport to Manchester Airport.
Direct flights between Manchester and Islamabad can be booked through PIA’s website or its booking partners, with fares starting at £633 (approximately PKR 236,914). Initially, four flights per week are expected, while services from Birmingham and London will be introduced in the next phase based on demand.
Since 2020, there have been no direct flights between Pakistan and northern UK airports, causing longer travel times and higher personal expenses for passengers. This restoration became possible after the UK removed PIA from the air safety list on July 16, following technical audits and clear improvements in the airline’s safety standards.
Comprehensive reviews of pilot licensing, aircraft maintenance, and safety arrangements confirmed that British aviation authorities now have confidence in PIA’s international flight safety.
PIA CEO EVM Muhammad Amir Hayat described the development as a moment of pride for Pakistan and a major benefit for thousands of passengers relying on this route. He emphasized that continuous reforms and adherence to high standards, in close coordination with British partners, helped overcome past challenges and establish a strong, globally recognized safety system.
