ISLAMABAD: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Marshal Arshad Malik called on Prime Minister Imran Khan at Islamabad on Friday (today).
According to details, CEO PIA briefed the Prime Minister regarding ongoing negotiations with the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to ensure PIA flight operations for Europe.
The CEO also briefed the Prime Minister regarding a restructuring of PIA so as to make it a profitable and leading airline.
Prime minister directed to expedite the restructuring plan in consultation with Advisor to PM on Institutional Reforms Dr. Ishrat Hussain to present a framework in a week.
Prime Minister emphasized that our Government has adopted across the board reforms agenda to make institutions efficient and service-oriented.
On June 7, The federal cabinet had approved the appointment of Air Marshal Arshad Malik as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
According to sources, the decision was taken during cabinet meeting which was presided over by Prime Minister Imran Khan. PM Imran Khan approved the appointment of Air Marshal Arshad Malik as the chief executive of the PIA for another three years.
Malik will continue to serve as PIA chief after retirement from the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) on July 12. In the meantime, the cabinet was also briefed about fake degrees and licenses of the pilots and aviation officials.
It was informed during the meeting that all pilots possessing fake licenses have been grounded. The meeting was informed all airlines of the country had directed to ensure transparency in procedures and licensing of pilots.
The PM had instructed the concerned cabinet members to complete investigations into the dubious licenses of the pilots at the earliest.
