The federal government announced a Re1 increase in petrol prices on Friday, setting the new rate at Rs257.13 per liter for the next 15 days.
It should be noted that Global petroleum prices saw a slight increase due to disruptions in shipping through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal, which are driving up the cost of US and African crude grades.
Earlier, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) had sent a summary to the relevant ministry, recommending adjustments based on international oil price trends and exchange rate fluctuations.
This adjustment follows a price hike on January 15, when petrol prices rose by Rs3.47 per liter and high-speed diesel by Rs2.63 per liter, bringing petrol to Rs256.13 per liter and diesel to Rs260.95 per liter.
