Dar added that in the next fortnight (July 16-31), the price of petrol is reduced by Rs9 per liter to Rs 253 per litre. The rate of HSD is reduced by Rs7 per litre to Rs253.50.
The finance minister did not announce any changes in the price of kerosene oil or light-diesel oil. The new prices will come into effect at midnight.
He said that despite an uptick in price of one of the two products in international market, “the increase was offset due to rupee appreciation over past few days.
On July 1, Dar had kept the petrol price unchanged at Rs262 per litre and hiked HSD by Rs7.5 per litre to Rs260.5.
He had said the decision to increase the HSD price was made considering the rising prices of petroleum products in the international market at the time.
