LAHORE: Multi-party alliance, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), will hold a public rally in Dera Ghazi Khan on Sunday (today).
PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif said that he would be addressing the rally. The previous public rally in Faisalabad on October 17 was addressed by PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz. PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and other opposition party leaders would also address the gathering.
The opposition alliance has kicked off a fifteen-day protest drive against price hike and inflation. Protest rallies have been taken out in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and other major cities led by leaders of PDM parties. Protests were also be held in different districts and divisional headquarters of Punjab, including Sargodha, Mianwali and Bakhar.
PDM President and chief of his own faction of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, had requested all partners in the opposition alliance to take to the streets instead of holding meetings.
The PDM chief had skipped the protest rally in Karachi on October 22 due to the death of a senior JUI-F member and poet Shamsur Rahman Shamsi. JUI-F leader Abdul Ghafoor Haider lead the PDM rally while PML-N leadership also participated.
