BERLIN: Young Pakistani karate fighter Raja Rehan has made a significant mark on the international stage by securing the gold medal at the prestigious Zwönitztalpokal tournament held in Germany.
Representing the German club Bushido Chemnitz, Rehan competed in the Kumite U30/U35 -80KG category, where he displayed absolute dominance to emerge as the champion.
Rehan’s path to the title was marked by decisive victories, starting with a flawless 6-0 win against Ingo Schäfer in the opening round. He faced a stern challenge in the semi-finals against Marcel Koch, eventually prevailing with a narrow 1-0 scoreline. In the final showdown, Rehan delivered a masterclass performance, defeating Timur Manuev with a commanding 9-0 victory to clinch the gold.
This triumph caps off an extraordinary three-week period for the Pakistani athlete, characterized by a string of international accolades. Earlier this month, Rehan secured a silver medal in the Senior -60KG category in Poland, followed by bronze medals at the Arwaza Cup in Germany (Senior -60KG) and the Czech Open (Senior -67KG).
Rehan’s consistent success is not only a testament to his rigorous training and dedication but also serves to elevate Pakistan’s profile in the global karate community.
