DUBAI: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that Pakistan’s economic diplomacy is yielding positive results despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
Addressing at the Iftar dinner hosted by Pakistan Business Council Dubai in Dubai today (Saturday) Qureshi said that through economic diplomacy, Pakistan is diverting the attention of the foreign investors and businessmen towards the enormous business opportunities in Pakistan.
The foreign minister said that the purpose of his visit to the UAE is further enhancing the bilateral trade relations and cooperation in various sectors. “Welfare and resolution of the issues of expatriate Pakistanis is among the top priorities of the incumbent government,” the Foreign Minister added.
He said that it is a matter of pleasure for me that a huge number of Pakistanis are residing in UAE and are playing a positive role in the development and progress of the country. Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Pakistan s bilateral relations with the UAE are improving day by day.
Earlier the day, Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi has left for a three-day official visit to the UAE today.
During the visit, the foreign minister will meet his counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and other UAE dignitaries. He will also meet the Pakistani diaspora and interact with local and international media.
According to the Foreign Office, the foreign minister will hold consultations with the UAE’s leadership on all areas of bilateral cooperation including collaboration in trade and investment, job opportunities for the Pakistani workforce and the welfare of the Pakistani diaspora.
The foreign minister will also discuss regional and global issues of mutual interest. The UAE is home to the second-largest Pakistani community abroad.
The Foreign Office said Pakistan and the UAE enjoy strong fraternal ties, rooted deep in common faith and shared history and values. It added that high-level visits between the two countries have played a pivotal role in providing further impetus to strengthening bilateral cooperation and collaboration on a wide range of issues.

The visit comes amid reports that the UAE is mediating between Pakistan and India to end the animosity between the two countries.
