Pakistani-origin British boxer Shabaz Masoud defeated Peter McGrail by unanimous decision to capture the vacant European super-bantamweight title in Monaco.
McGrail started the fight strongly, but the Stoke-born Masoud gradually took control as the bout progressed. While McGrail kept the closing rounds competitive, the judges scored the fight 116-111, 115-112, and 114-113 in Masoud’s favor.
This marked Masoud’s return to the ring after a 13-month hiatus, following an injury that forced the postponement of a planned June clash with McGrail.
It is worth mentioning that Masoud made his professional debut in May 2018. He remained undefeated for many fights.

In November 2022, he won the WBA Inter‑Continental super‑bantamweight title by defeating the previously undefeated boxer Jack Bateson.
Earlier, in an all-British clash, welterweight champion Conah Walker secured a 12th-round knockout victory over 2020 Olympic silver medalist Pat McCormack.
