In response to alleged cyberattacks and digital propaganda from India, Pakistani volunteer hackers have launched a retaliatory cyber campaign under the codename Operation Salar, targeting critical Indian online infrastructure.
As part of the operation, at least four prominent Indian websites were reportedly breached and defaced with Pakistan’s national flag. The hackers stated their action was a direct response to Indian cyber aggression, anti-Pakistan narratives, and ongoing atrocities against the Kashmiri people.
The cyber offensive is being carried out by a Pakistani volunteer hacker group, not formally affiliated with any government entity.
The group emphasized that Operation Salar is aimed at exposing Indian digital vulnerabilities and countering cyber warfare initiated from across the border.
The statement released by the group accused Indian cyber units of engaging in digital terrorism and spreading false narratives against Pakistan.
The term #OperationSalar has started trending across social media platforms in Pakistan, with users praising the hackers and labeling the retaliation a “cyber knockout”.
While the identities of the targeted websites have not been disclosed in detail, screenshots circulating online show government and media portals displaying pro-Pakistan messages.
