Tehran: Heavy shelling, attributed to ongoing US-Israeli military operations, rocked areas near Pakistan’s embassy in Tehran early Friday, as the bombardment entered its seventh consecutive day.
The embassy’s press attaché confirmed to BBC News’ Usman Zahid that explosions were heard in the vicinity, though no damage was reported to the mission or surrounding structures.
Located adjacent to Iranian military installations—including a training center and a hospital—the embassy remains operational, with all 50 diplomatic staff, including Ambassador Mudassar Tipu, reported safe.
The US and Israel launched coordinated strikes against Iranian military and infrastructure targets on Saturday, February 28, citing Iranian support for regional proxy groups and alleged nuclear advancements. Today marks the seventh consecutive day of sustained military action, while Iran has vowed retaliation with global powers urging de-escalation
Meanwhile, the Taftan border crossing continues to function, facilitating the movement of Pakistani nationals and foreigners. Over 2,000 Pakistanis and 37 diplomats’ families have been evacuated since the strikes began, with most arriving via land through Balochistan and others airlifted through Azerbaijan.
