ISLAMABAD: Directorate of Central Health Establishment (CHE) Director Dr Irfan Tahir has said the health ministry is strictly monitoring coronavirus situation in the country and taking all necessary steps to screen travelers returning from other countries.
While talking to media Irfan Tahir said major airports and other entry points in Pakistan would continue its stern screening of passengers reaching from abroad, as countries globally continued to establish protective steps against coronavirus spread.
Dr. Irfan Tahir said that temperature screening measures at airports and other ports of entry into Pakistan have been extended to cover all inbound travelers in efforts to thwart a coronavirus from spreading.
He said officials have screened or tested several travelers from all entry points of the country for the deadly novel coronavirus, adding that people not to panic and everyone must follow basic cleanliness and those with flu-like signs should consult health officials.
Directorate of Central Health Establishment further said like other countries Pakistani travelers at Airports, land ports and seaports were also being screened. He said prevention precautionary steps crucial as there is no vaccine or specific treatment for the diseases.
Screening steps include the placement of thermal scanners at the entry points to detect travelers with a fever, he said.
He said coronavirus awareness on social media is being made. Apart from the social media drive, the government is working on the ground level as well, he mentioned.
Directorate of Central Health Establishment said all passengers including Pakistani nationals, tourists and transit passengers, would be screened when entering into Pakistan.
