KARACHI: A further 16 deaths and 1,160 new cases have been reported in Pakistan due to the coronavirus.
According to the National Command and Control Center, the total number of deaths from coronavirus in the country has reached 12,617 while the total number of affected people has reached 572,334. In the country, 535,491 people have recovered from coronavirus and the number of patients undergoing treatment is 24,226.
The highest number of deaths due to coronavirus is in Punjab where 5,208 people have lost their lives while 4,292 in Sindh, 2,036 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 492 in Islamabad, 102 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 199 in Balochistan and 288 people have lost their lives in Azad Kashmir.
The number of coronavirus cases in Islamabad is 43,485, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 71,043, in Sindh 256,220, in Punjab 1,67,819, in Balochistan 18,988, in Azad Kashmir 9,828 and in Gilgit-Baltistan 4,951. People have been infected with the virus.

Coronavirus vaccination is underway in Pakistan and in the first phase, health workers are being vaccinated against corona, while people above the age of 63 have also been vaccinated. Adult vaccination centers have been set up across the country and the entire vaccination process will be controlled by digital mechanisms.
According to the National Command and Operations Center, the rate of positive cases of coronavirus in Karachi is 10.68 percent. The rate of positive cases in Islamabad is 1.18 percent, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 5.25 percent, in Punjab 5.97 percent, and in Sindh 10.23 percent.
