ISLAMABAD: At least 449 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in Pakistan while 9 more civilians have died of the virus in the last 24 hours.
According to figures released by the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), a total of 1,277,160 people were infected with coronavirus across the country, while 28,547 people lost their lives to the virus.
During the last 24 hours, 41,709 tests were performed to diagnose coronavirus, bringing the total number of tests to 21,143,023. Nationwide, the virus test result was 1.07 percent, while the number of critical cases rose to 1,235. Earlier, in view of the situation in coronavirus across the country, Asad Umar, head of the NCOC, stressed the need to meet vaccination targets to prevent a fifth wave of the virus.

On Twitter last month, Asad Umar, head of the NCOC, said that if a large number of people did not get vaccinated, the country would face a weak defense in the fight against coronavirus. He also highlighted the importance of a second dose of the vaccine.
Federal Minister Asad Umar said a second dose of the vaccine was needed to protect against the coronavirus. Islamabad, Peshawar, Gilgit, and Mirpur have reported excellent progress in vaccination while Skardu, Charsadda, and Sargodha have also made good progress.
