Pakistan reports 2,899 COVID-19 cases, 46 deaths

ISLAMABAD: The novel coronavirus has claimed more than 46 lives and infected 2,899 people during the past 24 across the country.

According to the data released by National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 46 more people succumbed to coronavirus in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 10,644. 1,524 patients have recovered from the virus during the last 24 hours while 2,382 patients are still in critical condition.

The latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) disclosed as many as 2,899 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Sindh remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic in terms of cases followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Punjab has overtaken Sindh in the most number of casualties.

Till now 225,509 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 144,909 in Punjab 61,148 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 39,120 in Islamabad, 18,373 in Balochistan, 8,478 in Azad Kashmir and 4,879 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Furthermore, 4,260 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab 3,693 in Sindh, 1,728 in KP, 439 in Islamabad, 235 in Azad Kashmir, 188 in Balochistan, and 101 in GB.

Pakistan has so far conducted 7,088,014 coronavirus tests and 44,410 in the last 24 hours. 456,969 coronavirus patients have recovered in the country whereas 2,278 patients are in critical condition.

The number of coronavirus infection cases across the world has surged to 90,078,857 and the pandemic has so far claimed over 1,934,833 lives.

According to the latest data, there are 23,680,388 active cases of coronavirus in the world and more than 64,463,636 people have been cured. The United States is the number one affected country of coronavirus and India is the second.

The number of affected patients in the United States has risen to 22,699,938 and 381,480 people have lost their lives.

In India, more than 10,451,346 people have been affected and 151,048 have died. Brazil is the third most affected country by the Coronavirus, with more than 8,075,998 infected and 202,657 people dying.
