ISLAMABAD: A further 46 people have lost their lives in Pakistan due to the coronavirus and the total number of deaths has reached 10,997.
According to the National Command and Control Center, 1,920 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in 24 hours and the total number of affected people has reached 521,211.
In the country, 475,228 people have recovered and the number of active patients is 34,986. The number of coronavirus cases in Islamabad is 40,111, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 63,615, in Sindh 235,576, in Punjab 149,782, in Balochistan 18,612, in Azad Kashmir 8,631 and in Gilgit-Baltistan 4 884 people have been infected with the coronavirus.
The highest number of deaths due to coronavirus is in Punjab where 4,432 people have lost their lives while 3,793 in Sindh, 1,783 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 457 in Islamabad, 101 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 190 in Balochistan and 241 people have lost their lives in Azad Kashmir.
The first 50,000 cases came to light in 86 days and the last 50,000 cases in just 22 days. The first case of coronavirus in Pakistan came to light on 26th February, while the first death from coronavirus was reported on 18th March.
The National Institutes of Health has confirmed a new strain of coronavirus in Pakistan. According to the National Institutes of Health, a new strain of coronavirus was found in two Pakistanis after both returned home from the UK. Punjab Health Minister Yasmeen Rashid said that four suspicious patients of the new type of coronavirus are from Lahore. All four have been tested and sent to NIH.
