Pakistan issued a strong condemnation on Thursday in response to remarks made by Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh concerning Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal during his visit to Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ\&K).
The Pakistani Foreign Office denounced the statements as “irresponsible” and indicative of what it described as New Delhi’s deep-seated insecurity and frustration over Pakistan’s credible defense posture.
In an official statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan criticized the Indian minister’s comments, stating that they reflect a “profound sense of insecurity and frustration regarding Pakistan’s effective deterrence capabilities.”
He asserted that Pakistan’s conventional military strength is sufficient to counter any potential Indian aggression, without resorting to what he termed as India’s “self-inflicted nuclear hysteria.”
The spokesperson further said that Singh’s comments displayed “a clear lack of understanding” regarding the mandate and responsibilities of international bodies such as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
