A major development has emerged regarding the printing and distribution of electricity bills across the country as under the new arrangement, all electricity distribution companies (DISCOs) will now have their bills delivered through Pakistan Post.
According to reports, the system will initially be launched on a trial basis. In the first phase, Pakistan Post staff will distribute electricity bills in one sub-division of each DISCO. If the pilot project proves successful, it will be expanded nationwide in phases.
Officials stated that within the next six months, the entire bill distribution system will be handed over to Pakistan Post. In the final stage, the printing of electricity bills will also be managed by Pakistan Post.
Reports further indicated that all Regional Postmaster Generals have been issued necessary instructions to ensure staff are adequately prepared for the implementation of the new system.
Simultaneously, discussions are ongoing with K-Electric in Karachi regarding the inclusion of their billing distribution under the same framework.
This initiative is being described as a major government reform effort aimed at improving timely delivery, enhancing transparency, and reducing costs.
