ISLAMABAD: Minister for Communications and Postal Services Murad Saeed has said 2,000 digital franchise Post Offices are being set up across the country to provide quality and affordable services to the customers.
Addressing a ceremony here on Monday, the minister said, “Pakistan Post is encouraging in the use of new communication and information technologies to move beyond what is traditionally regarded as a core postal business.”
“Pakistan’s post is dedicated to ensuring and timely delivery of mail, money and material at the doorsteps of the customers at an affordable cost by using digital technology,” he added.
Murad Saeed said initially two thousand franchises are being launched during the current month, while one hundred thousand digital franchises would be launched during the next few years.
The Minister said ten thousand people have applied for the acquisition of digital franchises so far. He said this initiative would create at least three to four hundred thousand jobs in the country and also lessen the workload on employees.
The Minister said after completion of the digitization process, an E-Commerce portal will be developed for Electronic Money Orders. He further said that Pakistan Post also offers the Postal Order service.
Postal Order service was designed to fulfill requirements for small remittances at the nominal commission, adding that this traditional postal service facilitates prospective students and would-be employees to request a prospectus, application forms and other relevant information.
