Pakistan has taken a significant step towards technological self-sufficiency with the unveiling of its first locally-made ventilator, launched by the Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives. Developed by a private company, this milestone is a major leap forward for Pakistan’s innovation sector and is part of the government’s ‘Uraan Pakistan’ initiative, which seeks to promote homegrown technology.

During the launch event, Minister Iqbal praised the company behind the ventilator, calling it a “champion of Uraan Pakistan,” and emphasized the importance of such innovations for the country’s future. He called on the nation to nurture a new generation driven by ambition, intelligence, and hard work to ensure Pakistan thrives in a competitive global landscape.

Iqbal also addressed the negative perception of Pakistan internationally, acknowledging that despite the nation’s hardworking people, certain forces have hurt its global image. He called for a collective effort to reshape the country’s future, especially as Pakistan nears its centenary of independence in 2047.

With the Fourth Industrial Revolution and new technologies reshaping the world, the minister highlighted Pakistan’s potential to outpace competitors in technological advancements, despite its smaller population compared to some of its neighbors. He also underscored the need for policy consistency and long-term reforms, drawing inspiration from nations like Japan and South Korea.

Setting ambitious targets for Pakistan’s future, Iqbal announced plans to increase exports from $30 billion to $100 billion within the next 8-9 years. He urged the private sector to take the lead, particularly in the agriculture and industrial sectors, to drive this economic growth.

Concluding his speech, the minister emphasized that Pakistan’s economic future depends on fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and an export-driven economy, urging the younger generation to embrace technology and contribute to the country’s global competitiveness.
