The federal government on Friday announced a complete ban on all types of drone operations across Pakistan, suspending both commercial and recreational use with immediate effect.
According to official directives, the prohibition applies to every category of unmanned aerial vehicles, including those operated for business, media coverage, agricultural monitoring, and leisure activities. Provincial governments have been instructed to ensure strict enforcement of the decision within their respective jurisdictions.
The nationwide move follows a similar step taken earlier by the Punjab government. On February 26, the provincial administration imposed an immediate 30-day ban on outdoor drone flying across the province.
A notification issued by the Home Department stated that the order was enforced under Section 144(6) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898. Authorities cited credible intelligence reports and prevailing security concerns, warning that the unregulated use of drones could pose serious threats to public safety, private and public property, and overall law and order.
Officials said the latest countrywide ban aims to prevent potential security breaches and maintain public order amid heightened concerns.
