The government of Pakistan has announced an increase in the prices of petroleum products.
According to an official notification issued by the government, the price of diesel has been increased by PKR 7.15 per litre, while the price of petrol has been raised by PKR 4.93 per litre.
Following the revision, the new price of petrol has been fixed at PKR 320.73 per litre.
Earlier, the All Pakistan Petroleum Pump Owners Association announced an indefinite nationwide strike, citing the failure of negotiations with the federal government.
According to the association, petrol pumps across the country will remain closed from 12:00 a.m. on 22 July as part of the strike.
The association stated that talks with the Federal Minister for Petroleum ended without any agreement. The negotiations focused on the dealers’ demand for an increase in profit margins and concerns over the implementation of the government’s proposed daily petroleum pricing system.
