President Donald Trump’s stark warning on April 7 — “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again” — underscored the perilous moment. On April 7, President Trump confirmed in his latest tweet that, following conversations with Pakistan’s leadership, he had agreed to suspend bombing and attacks on Iran for two weeks. “This will be a double sided CEASEFIRE!” he declared, adding that Iran’s 10-point proposal provided a workable basis for long-term peace. He credited Pakistan’s intervention for halting the destructive force that was set to be unleashed.

“With the greatest humility, I am pleased to announce that the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America, along with their allies, have agreed to an immediate ceasefire everywhere including Lebanon and elsewhere, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY. I warmly welcome the sagacious gesture and extend deepest gratitude to the leadership of both the countries and invite their delegations to Islamabad on Friday, 10th April 2026, to further negotiate for a conclusive agreement to settle all disputes.”
