Tensions have escalated sharply along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border as the Pakistan Armed Forces launched Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq in response to what officials describe as unprovoked aggression by the Afghan Taliban. In a series of decisive strikes inside Afghan territory, Pakistani forces claim to have inflicted heavy losses on Taliban fighters and destroyed multiple military installations, while also suffering casualties of their own.
According to the military, Afghan Taliban forces initiated firing in 15 sectors across 27 locations along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Pakistani troops repulsed the attacks and launched counterstrikes, destroying more than 73 Taliban posts and 115 tanks.
The army claims 274 Taliban operatives and terrorists were killed and over 400 injured since Thursday night.
According to security sources, five Afghan posts in Paktia were captured and the Pakistani flag was raised on them. Two of these posts face Shawal, two face Angoor Adda, and one faces Zarmelan. Moreover, the Afghan terminal at Angoor Adda was destroyed. Security sources confirmed that decisive operations against the Taliban regime are ongoing, with enemy positions across border and internal sectors being effectively targeted.
So far, 27 Taliban posts, including the Charlie and Babri posts, have been destroyed, while 9 have been captured. Two corps headquarters, three brigade headquarters, two ammunition depots, one logistics base, three battalion headquarters, and two sector headquarters have been completely destroyed. More than 80 tanks, artillery guns, and armored personnel carriers (APCs) were also destroyed.

According to Pakistan Television, in response to Pakistan’s strikes, Taliban forces raised white flags on several posts. Security sources reported that the Taliban’s attempt to attack Pakistani posts using quadcopters was foiled, with all drones shot down.

The Taliban also opened fire at multiple points along the border, to which Pakistani forces responded strongly in Nawagai sector (Bajaur), Tirah (Khyber), Mohmand district, and Arandu sector (Chitral). In Chitral, a Taliban post was precisely targeted and destroyed. Pakistani forces also struck Taliban posts in the border districts of Khyber, Mohmand, Kurram, and Bajaur.
Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said at 3:45 a.m. on Friday via social media platform X that Pakistani retaliatory strikes inside Afghanistan are ongoing and have inflicted heavy losses on Taliban forces. He confirmed that 27 posts have been destroyed and 9 captured, with corps, brigade, battalion, and sector headquarters, as well as ammunition depots and a logistics base, eliminated. Over 80 tanks, artillery pieces, and APCs were destroyed.
