Pakistan set a new world record as students from Army Public School came together to form the country’s largest human flag. Over 10,000 students participated in this patriotic event, held during the Lahore Youth Festival organized by the Punjab government.
This achievement surpasses the previous record held by India, where 7,368 individuals had gathered for a similar event. The record-breaking moment took place during the Lahore Youth Festival, but due to the increasing smog levels, the remaining events scheduled from November 8 to 10 at Fortress Stadium have been suspended.
In response to the health hazards posed by the smog, the provincial government has also closed schools and inter-colleges in several districts to protect students from diseases caused by the pollution. CM Maryam Nawaz has also implemented health policies to ensure public safety.
India’s World Record
India set the world record for the largest human flag on January 26, 2004, during the Republic Day celebrations in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The flag was created by 1.5 million people who formed a massive tricolor formation in a stadium, covering an area of over 66,000 square meters (16.3 acres).
The human flag was a part of a campaign to celebrate India’s diversity and unity. Participants were arranged in rows, wearing the colors of the Indian flag — saffron, white, and green — and the event was meticulously planned and organized. This record-breaking feat was officially recognized by the Guinness World Records.
