Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has announced that Pakistan aims to raise $200 million from Chinese investors through the issuance of Panda Bonds.
According to a report by ARY News on Monday, in an interview with Hong Kong’s TVB News, Finance Minister Aurangzeb stated that Pakistan will issue the Panda Bonds by June, with the goal of participating in China’s capital markets. He added that the country intends to raise $200 million from Chinese investors.
The Finance Minister emphasized that the focus is on shifting the economy towards export-based growth, while also focusing on achieving sustainability in the balance of payments. He further stated that the second phase of CPEC will attract more Chinese companies and investments.
He also mentioned that Pakistan is committed to increasing financial cooperation with Hong Kong and has sent delegations to explore trade and financial opportunities. Hong Kong could serve as a suitable platform for Chinese and Pakistani companies’ projects.
