Pak Army crucial for make country’s invincible defence: President Alvi

ISLAMABAD: In his message to the nation on the occasion of Defence Day, President Dr Arif Alvi on Sunday said Pakistan Army has a crucial role to make the country’s defence invincible.

Dr Arif Alvi said Pakistan successfully defeated terrorism and extremism and now the nation is on the path towards economic prosperity.

He said, “We have also made serious efforts with a positive approach towards securing peace in the region but unfortunately our enemy keeps hostile designs against us”.

The president further said, “We reaffirm our pledge that we will continue to support the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir in their struggle till the realisation of their right to self-determination”.

He urged the nation to pay homage to its martyrs and pledge anew to defend Pakistan, safeguards its security and sovereignty at all costs with the same spirit, undaunted courage, unconquerable and indomitable spirit as had been displayed by the martyrs and veterans of 1965 war.

“Today we renew our commitment to the defence, security and sovereignty of Pakistan, a commitment demonstrated by the martyrs and heroes of the 1965 war,” the prime minister said.

The Pakistani nation is celebrating Defence and Martyrs Day on Sunday (today) to pay homage to the martyrs and ghazis who became a rock-solid wall to defend the motherland against the aggression of the enemy.

It was on this day in 1965 that Indian forces crossed international border in the darkness of night to attack Pakistan but the nation and the armed forces foiled the nefarious plan of the enemy.
